Always in Never

24 hour meta-performance

Live-streaming July 21, 2016

The meta-performance “Always in Never"  is a meditation and commentary on the current state of human reality — particularly, the loss of physicality in our existential connections. Lala will enter into this piece with no previous attempts and will document and live-stream this deeply personal and physically demanding process. The performance will take place in Jacksonville, Florida, during her residency at Long Road Projects, which are providing a specially designed light and sound proof space and documentation.

Lala will be clothed in a self-designed fiber optic body suit, and will meticulously hand-cut and weave a cocoon of translucent materials, thread, and wire around her.  Once Lala is surrounded, the cocoon will glow from within.  She will emerge from the cocoon eventually, thus ending the performance piece and leaving the sculpture in it's completed state.  The documentation of the piece will be available as a limited edition video, and transformed into a hologram to be used in a site-specific installation alongside the resulting sculpture from the performance.  The completed pieces will be at Knew Conscious Gallery in Denver CO for her solo show, “Not Of This Earth”, opening December 10th. Unique limited edition prints will be created as a relic and released through Long Road Projects on July 28, 2016 via http://www.longroadprojects.com/editions
